Lots of excitement today

I left the smells, sounds, and people of 5 Weber North today at 3pm. I am now staying with relatives in Birmingham until at least Friday. That day I have an appointment with the doctor and surgery to remove the catheter that leads into my heart. There is a 50/50 chance the doctor will let me go home to Big Rapids on Friday. If he doesn't let me go home I will stay in Birmingham until another appointment on Monday or Tuesday.

The transition from the hospital has been exhausting. My stamina has not returned. My body and soul are dethawing from the marathon hospital stay. However, my hosts are amazing. I have a comfortable room and plenty to eat. I ate dinner tonight slowly not only because I am a slow eater or that my stomach is still recovering from chemo damage, but because my taste buds were throwing a party.

Brian, you are awesome. You do not know me but I'm keeping up with your status while talking with your mom and dad when I see them in Big Rapids. Your mom told me about your blog and I'm just getting a chance to read it now. Several years ago I had the same problem with my immune system and I still have to take pills to kick the system into play each day. I never knew about what that does until it does not do anything anymore and then everything bad happens. I was only at St. Mary's Hsp in Grand Rapids for a month and was released on Christmas Eve day. I know what you mean about visitors, it's exciting to have them, but exhausting after they leave. And yes it's wonderful when someone new enters your life to give you input. I will keep reading your updates and keeping in touch with your mom and dad.
Take care and good luck to you and your honey, she sounds GREAT.

Hey Brian,
I just realized that you have this web-site to keep us updated...whoops! (I barely ever use my hotmail address anymore). Anyways, congratulations on going home this Friday! You seem to have a good spirit and great perspective on everything. I'll keep you in my prayers...cuidate mucho!

Hi Brian,
Things are looking up! It was great to hear from you last night. Please extend thanks to your caregivers at the hospital on Friday, and your B'ham fam for taking such good care of you. We're keeping all digits crossed that you'll be home soon.xxoo mummytink
